A really great friend of mine is having kind of a tough go of things this month. You know those months where one thing goes wrong after the next and you start to wonder if you aren't the unluckiest person in the world? And of course you're not... there's always some peppy Patty there to remind you of the starving people in Uganda or the wartorn villages in Bosnia (as if you've forgotten).

But lately, I've kind of been wondering about that. Sure... sure... there's always someone less fortunate than you. Someone sicker, less attractive, less financially stable, in a horrible relationship and driving a bad car. But if my friend Evan is less fortunate than I, and his friend Yola is less fortunate than he, and Benny is less fortunate than she, and so on and so on, won't we, at some point, hit the least fortunate person on earth? Given that there is a finite number of people walking the planet... doesn't it stand to reason that someone out there deserves the title of Unluckiest Person in the World?

I'm going to do some looking and update my post when I find a few candidates. Know of some yourself? Send 'em on to Christina_shellen@yahoo.com
